The course enables new and long-time trainers and instructors in the forestry industry to receive specific training based on modern technics and methods to improve their pedagogical skills and competences.

This training is especially adapted for trainers or future trainers who want to benefit from specific training to be more effective in their work, e.g. in forestry training centres. Forest Vocational Training Centres and other organisations employing forest trainers can register to improve the teaching and training skills of their teachers.

- Forestry trainers are often former professionals, but they have not received any pedagogical training, which can be sorely lacking.

- Before being trained, I was doing my best. Now I am doing what's best.

- A trainer better be technically good. His forestry skills are essential. But, once trained by FET, his technical skills represent only 20% of his know-how. The remaining 80% are trainer's skills, the most important ones.

- A trainer spends most of his time communicating. Module 1 deals with all forms of communication of a trainer. It is the basis for every trainer's actions.

- With FET, trainers are connected to the learners, and will be in an easier situation to communicate, therefore less risk.

- Forestry EduTrainer help trainers get out of difficult situations in their work.

This survey was made within the Erasmus+ project Forestry EduTrainer. Common European standards were built on the results of this survey, and later on the partners conceived on those bases the Forestry EduTrainer course.

The content of the training course is transferable to all basic forestry work, as they are not aimed at the technical contents and competencies of individual procedures, but at skills, abilities and competencies that a trainer needs to impart knowledge and practical skills. Thus communication and prevention are given a high priority in the course. After all, forestry work is still considered one of the most dangerous activities of all, and at the end of the day, it is through everyday conversations that the attitude towards prevention and safety culture is really influenced. The online course also gives trainers knowledge about methods and tools, the influence of attitude and personality, group dynamics, facilitation and presentation, digital competencies, evaluation and feedback.

The content of the course is a compilation of successful methods and topics used in the international training business, which need to find their way into the forestry training sector. The training course is also rich of a very innovative approach designed to develop a sustainable prevention culture, aiming at increasing safe behaviours of people working in forestry. By creating a safety culture supported by all parties, the number of accidents in the forestry sector will significantly decrease.

Because it is an online course, the trainees are totally independent of time and space, thus allowing continuous learning for those who are already working as forestry trainers and want to improve their skills.

A first online video session will be organised after the subscription between each trainee and his/hers EduCoach. This first session is designed to get to know each other and to present to the trainee how the Educoach is going to follow his learning process.

Due to the importance of the 1st module and its impact on the other modules, the EduCoach will when possible organise a face-to-face session on the first module, conducted in presence of other trainees. When this option isn’t possible, the EduCoach and the trainee will determinate the modalities of the EduCoach support on the 1st module.
