Based on an idea from Christian Salvignol, the 1st conference was organised in La Bastide des Jourdans with the support of the European Commission (LdV programme). These conferences are now unmissable and much-awaited events which facilitate exchanges, suggestions, recommendations, ideas, collective intelligence, and concrete decisions for cooperation, all to be discussed and examined at length.

• Sustainable management of forestry operators during their career and lifelong training:  Continuous Professional Development (CPD) : Successful best practices to train  target groups that are otherwise hard to reach.
• Introduction of “Sufficiency” (doing better by doing less)
• Forestry training: New methods for attracting, recruiting and retaining candidates.
• Creative and  advanced quality methods with lower costs for training machine operators.
• E-learning and blended learning, : Recent and  novel approaches to forestry teaching and education  ( full time training as well as dual training ).
• Green forest jobs: current jobs, new jobs, new skills and new training needs.
• Pooling and sharing of means, information and resources among training centres: Best examples of innovative methods among training centres inside each country and at European level.
• The example of European Certificates of Competencies (e.g. ECC, ConCert): Advantages of a Pan European approach: Potential new developments.

The conference started  with a presentation by an innovation specialist from a non-forest background giving another, perhaps different, view on this topic, showing methods and tools for innovation.
